I really like your application. However I have 5 older model cameras (F18910W) that I cannot control the infrared lights on. Just curious if you will ever be updating the application to add this option for older model cameras.
Would even be happy to pay for this update.281 votes
Amcrest cam's are the most popular wifi camera's on Amazon at the moment and appear to be owned by Foscam.273 votes
Please see the latest list of Amcrest supported cameras here: https://owlr.uservoice.com/knowledgebase/articles/458563-supported-cameras-for-owlr-apps.
Which other specific Amcrest Cameras would you prefer to be added?
The current (as of April 2018) Android app lacks PTZ controls for the Foscam R2 (at least for my V4).
Any chance of getting this added? My other, really old Foscam cameras work fine (w/ PTZ).
Thanks for considering!168 votes
That is correct – this is a feature that we are likely going to add soon. Please see the list of supported cameras and features here: https://owlr.uservoice.com/knowledgebase/articles/458563-supported-cameras-for-owlr-apps.

We will add all of the following cameras if more votes come through for the request!
I use OWLR with the Foscam C1 HD camera. Your app works very well, much better than the paid apps too.
I use the C1 as a baby monitor and would like to toggle the Motion/Sound detecion from the OWLR app
The only way to do that now is to open the focam app-click on the camera-settings-alert-activity detection/sound detection-on/off
Also Video recording/iPad support will be awesome.106 votes
UPDATE 01/02/2017: Android has been out for around a month now.
iOS is out, go check on the app store
Would love to see a Windows 10 PC desktop version of this software103 votes
Maybe, it depends how many users actually want this and how much effort it would take on our behalf. Even so, this will not be the case for a long time.
UPDATE 6/12/2016: We have the scripts for presets for most of our supported cameras. We will implement them soon but there needs to be a bit of refactoring before we get them in!
Hikvision is the worlds largest manufacturer of video surveillance cameras.92 votes
UPDATE 6/12/2016: We are looking into Hikvision cameras – but it will likely be in 2017.
Original title - Viewing cameras without needing adminstrator rights
Hey Daniel here - Just merged this idea with few duplicates, makes it easer for my to reply to everyone. I've also tweaked the title to make it more generic for all cameras rather than just Foscams.
It should be possible to set up/view Foscam camera streams for example as "operator" or "guest" as well and not only with "administrator" rights. This would be much more secure.82 votes
I have merged a few other ideas into this one, makes it easier for me to reply to you all!
We know this is a potential problem for some – we have needed to revamp the authentication features for the iOS app – which we are still addressing. It definitely something we are looking into though!
I Love this app. I do wish, for those of us who use their cameras as baby monitors, that it had the ability to provide audio for the camera even when the app is minimized and the screen is locked similar to what Pandora does. I know I don't want my screen on all night while I am watching a sleeping baby.69 votes
We are aware of this – and it will require a rework of the video player to support the audio separate from the video and to be able to keep the battery use at a minimum.
We actually have someone looking at this right now. So we are one step closer to implementing this feature
Some (all?) Foscam cameras allow you to configure preset positions that you can select to aim the camera. Can Owlr offer support for this feature?64 votes
Allow for the Detailed view to support the high bit-rate stream and the substream (lower bit rate) when accessing from some control either on the screen or via the Settings.64 votes
Original post - "External access through OpenVPN would be very appreciated."
We get quite a few requests to support VPNs in general. Feel free to add your vote here!61 votes
Note: Changed Request title
Definitely something we will be adding in the future.
Workaround/ fix for Android:
VPN are not supported because of the way our app binds to the port.
I personally use a VPN on my Android phone; the way I get around the issue is discovery and setup the camera’s without my VPN turned on. Once you’ve done this and all the camera’s are setup, you can then switch your VPN back on.
I’ve only tested this on my phone (Samsung S6), as the other devices in the office do not have VPN setup on them, so this isn’t a guaranteed fix.
Allow user to select a grid type (4, 6, 9) cameras and show them in landscape view in parallel.61 votes
This is planned for DVR/NVR support and should have it for Android first and then iOS.

Currently re-writing all of our scripts. Once we’ve done this should be easy to add this feature.
Would be great if we could "color in" a part of the camera's view where we want motion alerts to come from. That way I could exclude the window with the waving branches, or the busy street out front.51 votes
This feature is planned as well – it requires a bit of work on both the camera interface, our app interface and our server interface. But it is in the pipeline for more control.
When using cameras as monitors for multiple childrens rooms it would be helpful to be able to hear both (or more than 2) simultaneously from the multi-image screen.48 votes
I can see how it would be useful, may need some feedback on how it would be implemented. Great idea more long term though.
Allow you to record the current stream as a video with sound to the camera roll.48 votes
Due to the rewrite, we needed to deprioritize for the next set of features. But it is planned.
Foscam FI9928P is not listed as a supported camera but the OWLR app for the iPad allows gesture control for both pan and tilt of the Foscam FI9928P camera and works great!
The OWLR app for the Android version does not show PTZ controls or allow gesture control of pan and tilt. Both apps do not allow optical zoom.47 votes
Thank you very much for the request and suggestion. We are looking into this.
- Don't see your idea?
